I have a love/hate relationship with Ambien. I love it because it helps me to sleep all night. I hate it because it puts me in such a stupor I'm hard to wake up, even though I do get up to go to the bathroom during the night. It makes me such a zombie. I bounce from wall to wall down the hall until I finally reach the bathroom. It's really only about 10 feet down the hall, but in my hypnotic state it feels like a mile.
Ambien affects different people in different ways. I know people who cook, eat, and leave the kitchen in a horrible mess, but don't remember doing any of it the next day. I've heard of people driving and shopping on it. I've even heard of people who murder someone on it and don't remember any of it. Me? Yes, I have been known to drive on it and I almost ran into a stop sign. My son made me let him drive the rest of the way home. No, I didn't remember it. I've also shopped on the Internet on it. When the items came they were very pretty, but not what I would have ordered has I been lucid, so I sent them back. No, I didn't remember buying them.
The first effects of Ambien I feel is a little heavy headed. They I start to see double and start talking very slow. When those effects start in I know it is time to lay down and go to sleep.
Yes, I would prefer Lunesta, but it is very expensive - $200 for 30 pills - and Ambien is only about $50 in the generic form. So I will stick with Ambien until a generic for Lunesta is on the market. I have had chronic insomnia for over 15 years, so Ambien keeps me sane, and let's me sleep.
The first effects are starting to kick in. Good night all. Pleasant dreams!
